Deere & Co. will move thier Ontario tractor manufacturing in Welland to Wisconsen in the United States and to their plant in Mexico, citing the higher Canadian dollar as one of the reasons. Despite imporved sales John Deere’s earnings were not as strong as analysts expected, due to rising costs. Since John Deere is a publicly traded company and the shareholders are “what count” I suspect that we will see a lot more Downsizing and possibly moving more of their manufacturing off shore.
